Sunday Recipe and More

I had a pretty full weekend and enjoyed myself.

Friday night, we got a babysitter and enjoyed an event down town thrown by a good friend and her college of Human Sciences. Another good friend got us in for free, which was awesome since it was $50 per person. K and I actually dressed up. Whoa! Stop the press! :)

Saturday, I attended a baby shower for D & F. It was small and nice. The food was just right and hit the spot for an 11 o'clock affair. Afterward, I followed Franzi back to her new home! Very nice place in a somewhat richy rich spot. They are moving on up and such. :)

That evening I made two veggie pot pies. One for D & F and one for us. This had K and I cheating on our Paleo diets, but cheating on occasion is a-okay and that pot pie was damn good.

Sunday, K made a Paleo-Pizza Crust dish for our dinner. The flavor was good and I enjoyed it. The outer crust even had a crunch to it. However, the middle of the crust where all the goodness sits it was too soggy. The sogginess of the crust took away from the dish. I want to try to figure out how to make this again and make it to where the crust is more like crust.

I did find a new favorite, though, and it's Aidell's Chicken and Apple sausage. Oh boy, this sausage was delicious and it even had O requesting more bites.

I also tried my hand at making Coconut Flour Bread. Instead of getting a sweet bread by using apple sauce (because I didn't have any on hand), I went the savory route by using pureed onion. I couldn't place what it tasted like to me, but when K said it reminded him of hush puppies he totally called it.

Over the weekend, I also bought crafting supplies to make hair bows. Lord, help me.

Finally Crafting!

Well, I dunno if this is called crafting necessarily but it's definitely creating something, which I haven't done in a while.

Two weekends ago I made some salt dough ornaments and they actually turned out pretty decently. I will provide photos when I have several of them painted.

I have looked at some other recipes and some call for vegetable oil. I don't know why some call for it and others do not. I don't know what the oil provides to the creation. Does anyone else know?

I have painted just a few of the cut out ornaments with tempera paint and am using a glossy Mod Podge as a sealer. I can't wait to have most painted. I think I will make some more ornaments this upcoming weekend.

I will let O go to town on several of them and give them to her classmates at daycare.

I must say I am heavily addicted to pinterest.com. It's a good addiction, though, because I am actually being more adventurous in the kitchen and I think when it comes to creativity it is revving up my engines.

All of my recipes these days I have pinned on Pinterest and they are so easy to find and use on my phone. It is making "doing" a lot more easier for me.

I must have a million bookmarks that I never look at and have no clue what many of them are. I will someday have a million pins on Pinterest but I am always looking at it because visually/aesthetically it is so pleasing and so easy to remember what is what.

I miss doing stuff. Well, more so, I guess I miss being creative.

I Miss Crafts

This photo was taken by my friend, Chrissy. I spent a couple of hours at her place cutting up paper leaves for one of Chrissy's friends who is going to use the paper foliage to decorate a barn for her wedding. I hope we'll get to see a photo eventually of how that barn turned out. Oh, and I didn't sit and cut for a couple of hours. I cut for about an hour and got to catch up a bit with Chris, Mary, and Amy.

This is probably the first real crafting project I have started and completed since around maybe August or September of last year. Wow. Has it really been that long?? I really need to get to crafting again. I sorely miss it. I just need some motivation to get my butt into gear.

**I did make some homemade deodorant about a month or so ago. So, I guess that counts. Right?

Crafts & Minivans

Weekend highlights:

-K and I went for some Mexican cuisine on Thursday night and we ran into Ruby, family, and Connie. We were invited to dine with them and really enjoyed the company. What a great surprise.

-Friday night I met up with friends to watch Handmade Nation. I really enjoyed the film and even more so listening to PolyCotN who was there in person from Knittaplease to talk about her guerrilla knitting art work. I was reinvigorated to create. I actually bought some new yarn to get started on some projects.

-Saturday, K and I headed to Lufkin to do some car browsing at the Toyota dealership. We were there for most of our Saturday. It was a long day. We did leave with one of these:



We are now so not cool. However, it is quite possible that ours is bigger than yours. So there.

I am now happily waiting for K to pick us up some dessert. Advise: Do not watch the Food channel regarding snacks and desserts.

I have a sickness, y'all.

I'm a craft-a-holic. Yes, I said it.

I go from one obsessed craze to another. One minute I'm researching and learning how to make my own marble magnets. I buy the supplies and go to town and that Christmas maybe four friends receive their new hand made refrigerator accessories in the mail. I'll have glass rocks and magnets galore left over and then I find myself bored with the craft.

I have researched and taught myself how to make my own jewelry. I bought all the supplies and tools and voila I'm making necklaces and earrings to my little heart's delight. Before I know it...BAM!...bored. I don't feel like making my own accessories any more even though I have beads, spools of wire, and what not collecting dust in my craft closet.

I did teach myself how to crochet and that is something that I have continued to do so I am pleased about that. At least I committed to one darn craft. *sigh*

Now I have my eyes on another hobby and I'm trying to be reasonable about this and not let myself fall in love with yet another craft.

I just got a sewing machine for Christmas so I should be focusing on learning that beast instead of researching the internet on how to do this other thing. *sigh*

I need help.

Been looking through my jewelry kit this past weekend and ended up making myself some earrings. Now I'm on the lookout for a bead sale at Hobby Lobby.

"Right hook, Clyde."

I started this scarf last night around 1o-ish p.m. Do you know how many craft boxes I had to open just to find a crochet hook? Well, luckily, I just had to open one box. I had labeled the box "Crafts." I'm S-m-r-t.

Wonder what tomorrow's project will be. I wonder if I have a strong enough tree in the back yard that will allow for a swing. Wheeeee!

I predict that I'll be lazy again tomorrow so today I will rejoice in completing the things that I had set out to do.
