It was a great Friday the 4th in East Texas. We got to see and experience a bit of snow for a short while. It probably did not snow long enough for some of us but just to see the small quiet flakes fall was exciting enough to make us Nacogdochians exclaim with glee. :) It's the small things, ya know?
I spent that cold Friday evening with my honey in our cozy home. We had a date to watch Up but no one told my eyelids that tidbit of news because they kept trying to shut down on me. We had to reschedule to save the movie for another day.
As soon as I opened my eyes on Saturday morning I took the excited pups for a cold ass walk around the neighborhood. I didn't get to view a nice blanket of snow on the ground but the frost was pretty darn thick and on some roof tops it almost did look like snow. Brr! It was a gorgeous day with very brisk temps and a bright sunny sky. I stayed in comfy clothes for quite a bit of the day and enjoyed being a sloth.
That evening I had a crafting date over at Chrissy's place. As we sat and chatted I crocheted about 12 flowers that I taught myself how to do earlier in the evening. Finally, I had found a pattern that was easy enough for me to follow! Oh what a grand day! :) I'll share it with y'all just in case there are any hookers out there that want to try the pattern:
Sunday was a day that was planned for Xmas shopping in the Woodlands with Mary and Chrissy. However, the trip was canceled and I made good use of the day at home. I was able to clear out more space in the garage so that K could move his bookcase from his computer room to garage. I was able to deliver a desk that I needed to get rid of to a friend's house. K was able to acquire a small computer desk from his uncle and will be replacing his large desk with it. We have a bit more furniture to acquire from K's mom and furniture to give to more friends and soon all this juggling of stuff will be done with and oh how that excites me.
I also have a new dresser that I ordered (gifted to us from my parents) on its way to us and should be here by Wednesday.
It sure is grand to have a minivan these days where it makes furniture wrangling a whole lot more easier. :)

Weekend Highlights
-Making felted heart broaches for V Day with my crafting chum Mary on a Friday night. If I hadn't busied my hands with 3 or 4 cups of coffee I probably would have made more than just four hearts. This craft was so much fun, fast, and easy I did it again with my little cousin Katie on Sunday. Thanks again Mary for helping a crafting sister out by supplying me with more pillow stuffing!
p.s. Wal-Mart will be getting rid of their fabric section. They are selling all of their fabrics at a discount now and need to have it all gone by 1 March. This is such a pain. We no longer have local fabric stores because of Wal-Mart and now WM decides it's not going to sell fabrics any longer. Our only option will be Hobby Lobby and of course their prices aren't all that great and they aren't open on Sundays. Grrr.
-Participating and attending a progressive dinner surprise birthday party. We were successful in fooling Matt T and actually surprised him for his bday at the very first house where Ruby and family graciously hosted with appetizers and drinks. There were many treats involving bacon, a spinning turntable centerpiece, spring rolls, and many other divine edibles.
Mary and Matt T. shared their home for the second stop. A lovely vegan lasagna was inhaled by me, homemade mac & cheese, and a meatloaf that many proclaimed was awesome. The third stop was at Chay's where we had bday cakes and vegan cupcakes. Marty was the second bday surprisee but being woman and all she suspected and wouldn't be fooled by us. Instead that stinker made her husband fool many of us in believing that she wouldn't be attending her surprise as she crawled through a bedroom window to make her debut.

Craft'n Saturday

As the women were busy with chatting and crafting, the boys decided to play with sharp objects. No surprise there, really. Maybe you didn't know this, but we are the home of the Lumberjacks.
Thank you, K, for documenting the night. Now it's my bedtime. I need my beauty rest because I have to attend the Church of Skatin' tomorrow. Nighty night. Crafty dreams!

CA (craft-a-holics anonymous)
I have a sickness, y'all.
I'm a craft-a-holic. Yes, I said it.
I go from one obsessed craze to another. One minute I'm researching and learning how to make my own marble magnets. I buy the supplies and go to town and that Christmas maybe four friends receive their new hand made refrigerator accessories in the mail. I'll have glass rocks and magnets galore left over and then I find myself bored with the craft.
I have researched and taught myself how to make my own jewelry. I bought all the supplies and tools and voila I'm making necklaces and earrings to my little heart's delight. Before I know it...BAM!...bored. I don't feel like making my own accessories any more even though I have beads, spools of wire, and what not collecting dust in my craft closet.
I did teach myself how to crochet and that is something that I have continued to do so I am pleased about that. At least I committed to one darn craft. *sigh*
Now I have my eyes on another hobby and I'm trying to be reasonable about this and not let myself fall in love with yet another craft.
I just got a sewing machine for Christmas so I should be focusing on learning that beast instead of researching the internet on how to do this other thing. *sigh*
I need help.
Is there a rehab for craft-a-holics?

project crochet
Looking through my yarns that came with this house I don't have much of a selection as I had thought. There are lots of fuzzy/furry types of yarns and not durable heavy weighted yarns. So, I'll check Hobby Lobby to see if they have any sales on yarns over the weekend.
Alright I'm off to bed to read a graphic novel. Just a fancy way to say comic book. Nighty night.
