DIY - Tutu

Over the past week I made my child a tutu by following this video tutorial:



I followed everything and made a nice looking tutu. However, it still came out too big for my kid. I guess next time I would make the elastic band about 4-6 inches smaller than the measurement of waist.

It was nice to create something new and different. :)

Weekend Review

We had a great weekend and were sad to see it go.

It was filled with friends, crafting, baking, and a tiny bit of productivity.

Friends: Our friends Matt and Sarah were in town and we got to see them and catch up for a bit on Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening we were invited over for dinner to L & J's home. O had two girls to play with so she was super happy.

Crafting: Y'all saw the hair bow I created. I made like maybe three and I only had one that was picture worthy. I will continue to practice this until I am able to make one that is super frilly for O. When I say super frilly I'm really jesting but at the same time I'm not. What can I say? The kid likes hair bows right now. So, all I can do is try to make some decent ones for her.

This one turned out to be my best attempt, which is still pretty wimpy:

Baking: I made a nice little Paleo dessert to take over to L & J's house. They actually made Paleo pizzas for dinner, so it was a Paleo night through and through.

The recipe is so simple and it was pretty yummy! Even though this is listed as baking, there was no baking involved with this little chocolatey pb morsels of yum. Sorry, I have not photographic evidence of these cookies. They were eaten too quickly. :)

I also made a blackberry cobbler this weekend. O and I collected blackberries from a friend's yard. O ate all she picked so it was up to me to work for two people. :) Luckily, our host, Donna, helped me pick a full bucket of berries.

Now, I'm just impatiently waiting for a whole brand new weekend again.

I miss doing stuff. Well, more so, I guess I miss being creative.

It's Cold and I Like It.

It was a great Friday the 4th in East Texas. We got to see and experience a bit of snow for a short while. It probably did not snow long enough for some of us but just to see the small quiet flakes fall was exciting enough to make us Nacogdochians exclaim with glee. :) It's the small things, ya know?

I spent that cold Friday evening with my honey in our cozy home. We had a date to watch Up but no one told my eyelids that tidbit of news because they kept trying to shut down on me. We had to reschedule to save the movie for another day.

As soon as I opened my eyes on Saturday morning I took the excited pups for a cold ass walk around the neighborhood. I didn't get to view a nice blanket of snow on the ground but the frost was pretty darn thick and on some roof tops it almost did look like snow. Brr! It was a gorgeous day with very brisk temps and a bright sunny sky. I stayed in comfy clothes for quite a bit of the day and enjoyed being a sloth.

That evening I had a crafting date over at Chrissy's place. As we sat and chatted I crocheted about 12 flowers that I taught myself how to do earlier in the evening. Finally, I had found a pattern that was easy enough for me to follow! Oh what a grand day! :) I'll share it with y'all just in case there are any hookers out there that want to try the pattern:



Sunday was a day that was planned for Xmas shopping in the Woodlands with Mary and Chrissy. However, the trip was canceled and I made good use of the day at home. I was able to clear out more space in the garage so that K could move his bookcase from his computer room to garage. I was able to deliver a desk that I needed to get rid of to a friend's house. K was able to acquire a small computer desk from his uncle and will be replacing his large desk with it. We have a bit more furniture to acquire from K's mom and furniture to give to more friends and soon all this juggling of stuff will be done with and oh how that excites me.

I also have a new dresser that I ordered (gifted to us from my parents) on its way to us and should be here by Wednesday.

It sure is grand to have a minivan these days where it makes furniture wrangling a whole lot more easier. :)

Been looking through my jewelry kit this past weekend and ended up making myself some earrings. Now I'm on the lookout for a bead sale at Hobby Lobby.

project crochet

Using left over yarns I am finally finished with dog/cat blanket number one. I'm pretty pleased with it. I need to figure out a way to work up a blanket a lot quicker than this one took me. I think I started this blanket on Saturday night.

Looking through my yarns that came with this house I don't have much of a selection as I had thought. There are lots of fuzzy/furry types of yarns and not durable heavy weighted yarns. So, I'll check Hobby Lobby to see if they have any sales on yarns over the weekend.

Alright I'm off to bed to read a graphic novel. Just a fancy way to say comic book. Nighty night.

"Right hook, Clyde."

I started this scarf last night around 1o-ish p.m. Do you know how many craft boxes I had to open just to find a crochet hook? Well, luckily, I just had to open one box. I had labeled the box "Crafts." I'm S-m-r-t.

Wonder what tomorrow's project will be. I wonder if I have a strong enough tree in the back yard that will allow for a swing. Wheeeee!

I predict that I'll be lazy again tomorrow so today I will rejoice in completing the things that I had set out to do.
