Birthday Weekend

It's a gorgeous Sunday and I'm having a hard time waking up and getting motivated.

One of my projects today will be to clean off a desk and get all that junk organized and then take photos of the desk for a friend to see if she's interested in taking it off of my hands.

Then later today K and I will be attending a visitation of a friend's sister who passed away a couple of days ago. It feels so unreal to know that this vibrant woman has passed away. I feel so miserable for my friend and his family.

Yesterday, I celebrated my birthday. It was a long and good day for me.

I woke up to bday wishes from my parents. K made me waffles for breakfast before I headed off for my haircut appointment. My stylist was so sweet and gifted me my haircut for my bday. What a nice gift.

After coming home and getting cleaned up and changed I picked up Chrissy and we headed for Mary's. I enjoyed coffee, snacks, and conversation with my girls.

I headed home where K showed me how to get around my new hot pink Nintendo DSi that he got me for my bday. It's pretty slick with being able to get around the internet on it. We decided we'd head out for an early dinner so we could attend a potluck birthday party for a friend. I liked the idea of going to someone else's bday party where I could attend and leave at my own leisure and not having to deal with having to make my own bday plans or cleaning up after my own party. :)

After dinner and running around Wally World we went home to feed the dogs and plan on leaving for the party. However, while at WW I was feeling a bit under the weather. I couldn't figure out if the food I ate was making me feel blah or if I was starting to feel the first symptoms of getting sick. My nose was feeling a little wet and I had a slight tickle in my throat. I decided to stay at home instead of going out to a party. I decided to play it safe in case I was getting sick and not exasperate it.

K and I ended up watching Milk on HBO and I played with my DSi for a couple of hours.

We went to bed way too late and I fully enjoyed my special day.

Friday evening was well spent, as well.

We headed to Mary's to meet up with our caravan of Twi-Hards. We left for Lufkin to watch New Moon. Merci and Tracy were so awesome in getting everyone's tickets in advance so we didn't have to wait outside to get our tickets. However, we did wait for a short while in line in order to sit down in the theater. It wasn't as bad as it could have been for a crowded adventure. The movie was entertaining, but the people surrounding us commenting and reacting to the movie were more entertaining. The Twilight saga on screen will never be academy award winners but if you are into the Twilight books then I think you'll end up enjoying the films too. The great thing about being surrounded by fanatics is it makes the experience a bit more amped.

After the movie all seven of us headed to the sushi place for a late night dinner. It was a nice conclusion to a good night.

It's been a heck of a weekend with the anticipation of a long awaited viewing of New Moon, celebrating my birthday, and attending the funeral of a friend's family member.

This upcoming week will move pretty quickly with Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching. I don't know if I'm fully prepared to dive in to such a fast and furious new week but I am looking forward to spending some time away from work and be with family and friends.
