I hit the track today with my "new to me" Garmin Forerunner 305. My friend, Kealy, noticed I had the device pinned on my "I Want" board on Pinterest. She emailed me and basically asked if I would like to have hers and I replied back excitedly, "HELL YES!"
I'm still on cloud 9 over the gift and I thank Kealy a hundred times in my thoughts for her generosity.
I walked and ran 4 miles today at the stadium. I ran 5 complete laps and walked 5, which equaled to 4 miles at the course. I did it within an hour...approx. 58 min.
I can't wait to try the Forerunner out when I have skates on. :)

Yoga Saturday
I started my day outside the house attending a yoga class. It's the first yoga class I have been to, since I was around 3-4 months pregnant. I am a weakling! Although, I must admit I did a lot better than I had thought I would.
After the class, I felt pretty good and glad I had attended the class. I'm kind of sore with achy muscles. It's amazing how much strength and flexibility I have lost. I missed ya, yoga.

Running High in Holey Gear
I had the goal of running three miles today.
I met that goal. Yay me! I almost felt like my old fit self again.
Even better was that throughout the whole run nothing sagged, drooped, or rolled. I'm talking about my workout clothes! It's so important to have on clothes that stay in place or don't chaff when you are trying to put in some miles.
I did notice one stinging area where my sports bra rubbed my skin a bit raw, but that is normal wear and tear.
I definitely am in need of buying new workout clothes. Every time I turn around I'm having to throw away another sports bra, because I've had it for a million years. When it looks like Mothra tried to eat your sports bra then it might be time to chunk it in the trash. Just saying.
One of my favorite running shorts that I need to buy more of is actually a Nike skort. It's a tennis skirt, actually. I don't have to worry about underwear lines, camel toe, etc. because there is an attached piece of fabric (the skirt portion) that covers all that worrisome stuff away. The shorts portion of it is spandex (like biker shorts) which is great if you have to worry about chaffing from chub rub.
I'm trying to whip this post-baby body back into shape but I need some new gear, yo!

P-B Body, Hold the Jelly
It has been a year since I had my sweet little girl. It has been an amazing year with her. What hasn't been so amazing is my post-baby body.
It's been a year now and I have no more excuses as to why I still look like I gave birth yesterday.
I'm hoping that my motivation is slowly returning. After not working out religiously it's really hard to get back into that frame of mind. The body is willing but the mind needs to lead the way and I guess if my heart were more into it all of it would gel and come together perhaps?
This month I seem to be doing a little better. Well, really....last week is when I started to actually feel more consistent and I say that because it has led to me starting off this week to good start too.
Three workouts last week which were routines of running and weights. I'm hoping to get in maybe four to five workouts this week. I'll probably do a run and weights on Mon, Wed, and Fri and Thurs I'll probably just do the elliptical for 50 min.
I did a two mile run today and I'm being generous when I say "run", since I do about 13-15 minute miles these days. Oh well. I have to start somewhere and nice and slow is where it's at.
I'm hoping to lose enough weight to where I'm not always wanting to put on a pair of pants with a stretchy waist band. I think that's a realistic goal. :)

Out of Practice
So...
I renewed my gym membership and I'm pretty happy about it. I had canceled my membership because after pregnancy I wasn't utilizing the facilities and just wasting my money every month. I figured I would save my money and just work out at the campus track until O turned one and moved up a class, which would free up some of our funds. I found I wasn't very motivated to exercise in the heat and now that it's chilly I know I would not jump at the chance to freeze my butt off.
Today was day two at the gym and I must say I have missed terribly having a climate controlled environment to work out in.
I am also very out of shape.
It's good to be sweating again.

laying track
The other day I tried to run one mile after having not run in over three weeks. What a pathetic try that was with me feeling like a water balloon filled with lead. *jiggle, thud, jiggle, thud*
I was red faced and panting like a dog. I can only imagine sometimes the types of pained looks that appear involuntarily on my face. I am so not that hot chick at the gym.
Well, I have no clue why I thought I would or could run three miles today. Well, let me take that back. As I was walking to the gym I thought, "Enh, I'm going to watch t.v. on the elliptical trainer and weight train. When I got to the gym I was already bored with the idea of the elliptical. I decided I would try for a two mile run on the track at a really slow pace. As I finished two miles I found myself still jogging and kept going until I reached three miles.
Even though it took me like 35-36 minutes to finish those three miles I still feel like a stud. I now feel exonerated from my earlier pathetic efforts. Yay me!
